เทอร์โมคัปเปิล คือ อุปกรณ์วัดอุณหภูมิ หรือเซนเซอร์สำหรับวัดอุณหภูมิ โดยใช้หลักการเปลี่ยนแปลงอุณหภูมิ หรือความร้อนเป็นแรงเคลื่อนไฟฟ้า (emf)   Thermocouple ประกอบด้วย ลวดโลหะตัวนำ 2 ชนิดที่แตกต่างกันทางโครงสร้างของอะตอม นำมาเชื่อมปลายทั้ง 2 เข้าด้วยกัน โดยเรียกปลายนี้ว่า Measuring point หรือ Hot junction (T1) (จุดวัดอุณหภูมิ) ซึ่งเป็นจุดที่ใช้วัดอุณหภูมิ และจะมีปลายอีกข้างหนึ่งของลวดโลหะปล่อยว่าง ซึ่งเรียกว่า Cold junction (T2) (จุดอ้างอิง) ดังภาพประกอบด้านล่าง ซึ่งหากจุดวัดอุณหภูมิ และจุดอ้างอิง มีอุณหภูมิต่างกันก็จะทำให้มีการนำกระแสในวงจรเทอร์โมคัปเปิลทั้งสองข้าง
